In this instruction you will learn to approve an Annual Leave request.
For each year of service full-time staff member is entitled to 4 weeks’ annual leave (pro rata for part-time staff). Shift workers who work more than 10 weekends in a year are entitled to 5 weeks annual leave. Staff are expected to take regular leave, ideally in the year it accrues, and are to maintain an annual leave balance not in excess of 4 weeks at any given time.
All annual leave requires prior approval. Such approval will take into consideration the requirements of the individual and the portfolio’s capacity to grant leave for the period requested. Any request for annual leave will not be unreasonably refused.
Supervisors will receive an automated email advising there is an Annual Leave request waiting for approval. Prior to approving leave requests ensure the employee has sufficient leave entitlement to cover the requested time period.
